Robocon’s Greatest Adventure premiered on March 20, 1976 at the “Toei Manga Matsuri” film festival in Japan. The Toei theater chain in Japan use to have a special lineup of theatrical shorts that targeted children while they were out of school for summer, winter, and spring break.

The story follows Robocon, a student of Gantz’ Robot Academy who lives amongst humans and aids them as part of his studies. Though Robocon is a screw up, he makes efforts to establish a good image for robots in the eyes of humans they cross paths with.

This is the last in a series of four theatrical short films for Ganbare Robocon. The first three films that came before this one were simply rehashed episodes that had aired on television. This fourth and final film was made specifically for theatrical release.
